Application:
- External lubricant / lubricant, plasticizer for polymers (PVC, PP, HDPE, LDPE, Rubbers);
- Dispersant and plasticizer in super concentrates (masterbatches, polymer compositions);
- Viscosity regulator in hot melt adhesives and adhesives, oils, coolant;
- Component of wax compositions (paraffin compositions, model injection formulations for metallurgy, candles);
- Temperature and strength modifier in thermoplastics, bitumen.
Polyethylene wax is an additive, processing and technological additive designed to improve polymer processing. Polyethylene wax resembles solid paraffin in its properties, which is why it is called wax. It is an external lubricant that reduces mechanical stress during polymer processing. Also, due to the low viscosity of the melt, polyethylene wax easily wets pigments and additives, which improves the quality of dispersion of the filler in the polymer matrix.
With the help of polyethylene wax, manufacturers achieve the effect of modifying the surfaces of the final products, namely hydrophobization, tightness, smoothness, gloss, matting, scratch and abrasion resistance.
Polyethylene wax has proven itself well in the process of viscosity adjustment - increasing the viscosity of paraffin mixtures and reducing the viscosity of polymer compounds.
A properly selected brand of polyethylene wax, when introduced into the technological process in a small percentage (from 1%), can significantly improve the quality of the product produced.
Main Features
Polyethylene wax is characterized by a high degree of crystallinity and linearity, therefore it has unique properties: hardness at high temperatures and low solubility in a wide range of solvents. Resistant to chemical attack. Thermoplastic, melts at temperatures above 100°C. It is capable of heating and cooling without significant degradation. The characteristics of polyethylene wax that make it in demand in the industry:
-
High softening temperature
-
High melting point
-
Excellent thermal stability
-
High chemical resistance
-
Good lubricity
-
The ability to resist deformation
Application
Polyethylene wax is used in the production of coatings, thermoplastic markings, PVC products, adhesive melts, wood polymer composites, compounds, road modifiers and coatings. Polyethylene wax is used in the manufacture of packaging, as it has a high chemical inertia. Historically, one of the most important fields of application of polyethylene wax is the paint industry. The importance of using wax lies in the fact that it provides a water-repellent ability for varnishes and paints, resistance to scratches and abrasion of their surfaces. Being a good dispersing agent, it improves their sliding during application and gives good adhesion of the paint to the surface. It is introduced into the composition of adhesives as plasticizers. In the foundry industry, polyethylene wax is used to produce molds for casting metal objects. Due to the addition of PV to candles, they do not crumble, they keep their shape well. The use of polyethylene wax when laying the roadway increases its ability to irreversible deformations, leading to rutting, which prolongs its service life.
