Wax in road markings

Polyethylene wax in the production of thermoplastics for road markings

Thermoplastic is a polymer material consisting of a mixture of thermoplastic resin with a plasticizer, filler, glass beads and pigment, as well as other additives to improve performance. It is a highly viscous bulk material intended for application to the road surface of highways.

Polyethylene wax has unique advantages - high melting point, hardness and extremely low melt viscosity. It is considered an ideal high-performance additive to achieve significantly improved road marking quality.

The listed advantages of polyethylene wax are achieved when added in the range of 1-5% (of the total composition).

Polyethylene wax also acts as an anti-adhesive additive in the upper layer of the coating, repels dirt, thereby increasing the service life of road markings.

The main advantages of using thermoplastics for road markings

  • Lower viscosity and application temperature;
  • Increased softening point;Excellent abrasion resistance;
  • Improved lubricating characteristics;
  • Facilitates dispersibility;
  • Thinner and clearer markings;
  • Good resistance to black marking;
  • Better adhesion.

We recommend the brands of polyethylene wax Plastowax E 12P (50P), Plastowax E 13F (175F), Plastowax E 15P/G (200TD) for the production of thermoplastics for road markings.
